Did you know that the Lincoln Memorial is carved so half of Abe is relaxed and calm and the other half is tense and ready for action? I did. I remember learning that when I was a child. While touring through Washington D.C. I set out to make a photograph to illustrate that fact. I set up the tripod on the right side first and positioned ol' Abe so he was only taking up half the frame. I paced off the distance of the tripod to the center of the monument, measured the exact distance on the left side, and set the camera for a double exposure. I didn't quite get the image lined up properly. I had to manipulate the image electronically to get the two Abe's the way you see them here.
